Understanding the Three Strike Zones

When pitchers think about pitching strikes, often it is in relation to the umpire calling the strike and not what the batter may or may not do. When a pitcher is pitching strikes, it means they are either pitching is for a called strike, pitching for a batter to foul, or pitching for a batter to chase. Pitchers who set batter up to chase strikes have the most success. How do we use the "three strike zones"?
